Representatives from Cranmer Education Trust attended the awards evening at Emirates Old Trafford, where Great Horizons was shortlisted as a finalist in two community engagement categories.
The project brings together education, civic, university, business and community partners with a shared ambition: to inspire young people, strengthen connections between schools and the wider community, and open up future pathways in science, learning and employment.
The event celebrated the work of science teachers and highlighted the importance of collaboration between schools, universities, employers and local organisations in helping young people see the opportunities available to them.
The project is a partnership involving the University of Manchester, Cranmer Education Trust, Pinnacle Learning Trust, Oldham Enterprise Trust, Oldham Council, Oldham Athletic Football Club, and Oldham Sixth Form College.

Following Great Horizons’ recognition at the Educate North Awards 2026, we are looking back at the inspiring event hosted at our Trust school, The Brian Clarke Academy, which brought together pupils, teachers and partners from across Oldham to raise aspirations and celebrate opportunities in STEM.
