Our professional development ecosystem empowers aspiring and experienced teachers with the skills, knowledge, and support to thrive in diverse classrooms. Through our organisations—the Cranmer Institute, Manchester Nexus SCITT, and East Manchester Teaching School Hub—we deliver high-quality training and continuous professional development (CPD) across Greater Manchester.

Teaching School Hub

East Manchester Teaching School Hub is a school-led centre of excellence for teachers and leaders at all stages. It supports 300+ schools and their teachers for the benefit of their young people.

Initial Teacher Training

Created for educators, by educators the Manchester Nexus SCITT programme prepares trainees across the region to become great teachers.

Local system leadership.

Through the Cranmer Institute we train and provide specialist SLEs and bespoke CPD, working with other trusts, Local Authorities, and Greater Manchester Learning Partnership.

The Cranmer Institute, part of the Cranmer Education Trust, is a hub for professional development and school improvement. It unites educators through CPD, leadership programmes, and practitioner networks, promoting innovative teaching and leadership. The Cranmer Institute accredits Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) and provides commissioned work including for LAs, such as the leadership of subject networks for both primary and secondary schools.

By promoting innovation and collaboration, the Institute enhances system-wide progress, delivering improved outcomes for students, educators, and regional teacher recruitment and retention. By connecting educators and sharing expertise, the Cranmer Institute empowers schools to deliver outstanding education and create opportunities for all students.

East Manchester Teaching School Hub, a cornerstone of the Cranmer Education Trust, is dedicated to enhancing teacher training and development across Oldham, Tameside, and beyond. As a school-led centre of excellence, it collaborates with schools, trusts, and local authorities to deliver high-quality, evidence-based professional development. The Hub delivers the DfE's golden thread, including the Early Career Teacher Programme (ECTP) for new teachers, and National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) for leadership development. The Hub is the Appropriate Body for the region, providing support for, and quality assurance of, statutory induction for early career teachers.

By fostering partnerships and personalised support, it empowers educators to grow, innovate, and improve outcomes for students while supporting teacher recruitment and retention. Our unique wide reach is important in transforming the life chances of children.

Manchester Nexus SCITT is committed to providing the highest quality teacher training. As a nationally accredited provider we offer Initial Teacher Training, delivering high-quality programmes for primary and secondary education across Oldham, Tameside, Manchester, Stockport and Rochdale. Our lead partner, Ashdene Primary Partnership delivers our programme in East Cheshire.

The SCITT offers school-centred training that prepares trainees to inspire and support their students. It provides tailored programmes, with a focus on growing reflective, skilled, and committed professionals. Cranmer schools are dedicated partners within the SCITT, providing placements and training.
