Ambition, excellence, community.

The Cranmer Education Trust was founded in 2015 with the mission to transform the life chances of children and young people through excellent education and great schools. We work mainly across NE Manchester with a family currently of 10 schools, 5 secondary and 5 primary, in Oldham and Rochdale, with a teacher training and development partnership that extends across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Our schools are all different and distinctive, with their own characters and histories. Together we educate and nurture over 7500 children and young people, from Rising-3s to Sixth Form. We are united in our ambition for our young people, in our commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in provision, and to building strong communities where pupils and staff feel they belong and know they are valued and heard. We want all our pupils to learn well, to achieve and progress with confidence; and we want them to be good people, good friends and neighbours and citizens, people whom we are proud to know.

Our ethos is collaborative and relationships are strong. Trust and school leaders work together to develop the principles and frameworks for continuous improvement, based on our shared values. Our school improvement team taps into the expertise in our schools to develop models of provision and guides for implementation which support each other at different stages of development. Our operating model ensures that how we work with individual schools is tailored to the school. Great schools focus on what their students need; CET focuses on what our schools need, working with and alongside to build capacity, encourage creativity, ensure sustainability Our schools do things together, from Cranmer Games (competitive!) to the poetry competition (moving and inspiring).

Staff training and professional development are at the core of the CET; you cannot build great schools without great teaching and great support services. We run school-centred Initial Teacher Training through Manchester Nexus, training on average 60 new teachers a year, both primary and secondary, in both our trust schools and the wider area partnership including our strategic partner and primary specialist, Ashdene School in South Manchester. We also run the East Manchester Teaching School Hub, providing Appropriate Body services, Early Career Training and the full suite of National Professional Qualifications. As the Kinder Languages Hub, we continue to work with schools on languages teaching. Through the Cranmer Institute we train and provide specialist SLEs and bespoke CPD, working with other trusts, Local Authorities, and the Greater Manchester Learning Partnership.

We continue to grow. Every school adds to the collective capacity and makes us all stronger together. We welcome interest from schools that share our values and ambitions for all our community.
