Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

The Cranmer Education Trust is the legal entity and through its Scheme of Delegation sets out how it discharges its responsibilities. The policies listed below are Cranmer policies which incorporate all parts of the trust. Many policies are delegated by the Trust Board to the school Local Governing Committees to approve. Schools publish their policies on their local websites.
Safeguarding is the foundation of everything we do across the trust. It underpins everything we do to ensure our pupils are not only safe but are able to thrive, learn and succeed. We have a clear vision: to create a unified culture of safeguarding excellence across the family of schools. The Cranmer Education Trust is the legal entity and has the overarching statutory duty for safeguarding across our schools. At Cranmer, through our policy, we set out how we coherently embed safeguarding at every level. Each school have local arrangements which they set out in their Safeguarding on a Page - setting out key contextual school level safeguarding information. These are found in and around school sites, and on school websites. They will tell you who to go with concerns or questions, and who to go to out of hours.

Our schools are communities that bring together children, young people and staff from different social, cultural and faith backgrounds to build a cohesive, integrated, respectful community for all.
Our commitment is to ambition, excellence and achievement for all, and building community and belonging, preparing our young people for a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-faith and multi-talented world.
We are enriched by diversity and strengthened by our inclusive policies and priorities, which enable all young people to achieve. We respect and learn from one another.
Diversity is important and we want our trustees and our Local Governing Committees to be increasingly reflective of the communities they serve. The Trust is in the process of working through GovernorHub’s facility to see if it is possible to collate Trustees and Local Governing Committee members’ information. The return will be voluntarily, and they can opt out of sharing their information, including protected characteristics, at any given time including after publication. To ensure that individuals cannot be identified through the publication of data, anonymous data will only be published in an appropriate format based on the number of optional returns. The current legal advice is that the safest way to protect data subjects and special category data, meeting the UK GDPR standard, would be to publish information that does not amount to ‘personal’ because it is anonymous, and therefore data protection principles do not apply.
We seek to provide positive learning and working environments, free from discrimination, harassment or victimisation. We are committed to fulfilling our statutory duties under the Equality Act 2010 tackling all forms of discrimination by:
Eliminating discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Act;
Advancing equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it;
Fostering good relations across all characteristics – between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it;
The Cranmer Education Trust is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applicants from all groups.
