Shine as stars in the world.

Rhodes Green CE Primary School begins a new chapter in the life of a school that has served local children and families for generations.

Formerly Little Heaton CE Primary School, the new name reflects more clearly the community in which the school stands. It signals renewed confidence and direction while preserving the relationships, Christian foundation and commitment to local families that have long been part of the school.

This is not about leaving everything that came before behind. It is about recognising the progress already being made, setting clear expectations for the future and giving the school an identity that better represents the community it serves today.

The name Rhodes Green creates a stronger connection between the school and the place it calls home.

Its new identity draws quietly from the history of Rhodes and Middleton, an area shaped by mills, cotton, silk, craftsmanship and generations of community life.

Those stories appear throughout the school’s visual identity: the cotton sprig recalls the local textile industry; the silkworm moth represents development and transformation; the book represents learning; and light and stars express hope and aspiration.A cross formed through negative space sits at the centre of the crest, reflecting the Christian foundation that brings each part of the identity together.

Rather than recreating the past, the identity uses it as a foundation for something contemporary: a school confident about where it comes from and ambitious about where it is going.

Shine as stars in the world

The school’s Christian vision, “Shine as stars in the world”, expresses the aspiration Rhodes Green holds for every child: that they develop their individual gifts, grow in knowledge and character, and leave primary school confident about the contribution they can make to the world around them.

This vision is supported by the school’s DREAM values: Determination, Respect, Empathy, Aspiration and Morals. These values help shape expectations for learning, behaviour, relationships and personal development, providing children with a clear framework for becoming thoughtful, resilient and responsible young people.

Learning at Rhodes Green is designed to build strong foundations while opening up opportunity. Alongside an ambitious curriculum, pupils are encouraged to explore creativity, sport, leadership and the wider world. Children are supported to become increasingly independent, curious and confident, while understanding that achievement can take many different forms.

The aim is not simply for children to succeed academically, but to leave Rhodes Green as good people: ready to learn, ready to contribute and ready for the next stage of their lives.

Rooted in its community. Shaped by faith. Growing with ambition. Helping every child shine.
