Academies within the Trust
The Trust operates five academies:

The Blue Coat C of E School – an Ofsted “Outstanding” school based in the heart of Oldham. There are over 1200 pupils on roll in Years 7-11. The school also runs a very successful academic sixth form for 420 students who come from Blue Coat and schools across the borough and beyond: blue-coat.oldham.sch.uk

St Anne’s C of E Academy – the school is based in Middleton for pupils aged 11-16 from a wide catchment area across North East Manchester: stannesacademy.org.uk

East Crompton St George’s C of E Primary School – a primary school based in the parish of St James, East Crompton catering for children from 4 to 11 years old: stgeorges-primary.co.uk

Mayfield Primary School – a large, two-form entry primary school based in Derker, Oldham, catering for pupils from Reception to age 11, together with nursery and Rising 3s provision:  mayfield.oldham.sch.uk

The Brian Clarke CE Academy – opens in September 2022. This is an 11-16 school, admitting 240 pupils every year. For the first 8 months, it will be based in a new “temporary” school on the Blue Coat site; in May 2023 it will move to its newly built permanent site in the town centre of Oldham, off Middleton Road.

Little Heaton CE Primary School – joined the trust on 1st March 2024 – a one-form entry school situated in Middleton, Rochdale catering for pupils from 4-11 years old. littleheatonce.co.uk

Teacher Training and Development
The Cranmer Education Trust is the accredited provider for the Manchester Nexus SCITT. The SCITT delivers both primary and secondary School Centred Initial Teacher Training. Our mission is to recruit, train, develop and retain the best teachers for our pupils and to develop and retain the best future leaders for our schools and the profession. We currently train 70 teachers per year for primary and secondary in partnership with schools across Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Manchester, Kirklees and Stockport.  Nexus was one of only 37% of ITT providers to be re-accredited in the first round of the SCITT re-accreditation process as part of the DfE’s Market Review of ITT.

The East Manchester Teaching School Hub – the Cranmer Education Trust runs the Teaching School Hub for Oldham and Tameside in strategic partnership with trusts and schools across the region, to provide high-quality professional development to teachers and leaders at all stages of their careers. We exist for children and young people, building their future through great teaching, great schools and great leadership.

Our lead provider partner is University College London. The Hub leads on delivering:

  • The Early Career Framework training for teachers in their first 2 years in the profession following qualification.
  • The new suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) up to and including NPQH.
  • Appropriate Body services to Early Careers Teachers.
  • High-quality and evidence based continuous professional development (CPD).
