Advisers and Consultants to the Trust

Oxbridge adviser

Professor Miles Hewstone – Professor of Social Psychology and Fellow of New College Oxford.

Professor Hewstone has published widely in the field of experimental social psychology, focusing on prejudice and stereotyping, intergroup contact, the reduction of intergroup conflict, sectarianism in Northern Ireland, and segregation and integration. Since 2010, Professor Hewstone has led a longitudinal investigation of community integration in Oldham’s secondary schools.

Professor Hewstone has warmly encouraged young people from Oldham to apply to Oxford University, and he welcomes our students to Open Days, ensure that they have the opportunity to see behind the walls of an ancient and prestigious college, and advises them, from the perspective of the university, about applications and how to prepare. His support has led to a steady and significant increase in the numbers of young people from The Blue Coat School Sixth Form applying to both Oxford and Cambridge in recent years.
